What is Family? Studio Ankh – me and Tova Jertfelt – made the graphic identity for the exhibition Family First at Södertälje konsthall, about the idea of family with a queer perspective. Visualizing family as an organism, that can change and metamorphose, it can be small, fuzzy, large, strong, weak. The identity aims to convey diversity in a fluid, non-nuclear way.
Families are like a living organism, a cell. It is changeable and can expand, collapse, grow smaller, divide. We wanted to portray a diversity of families - how different cultures, norms, ideas and thoughts can be fitted into the word 'family'. The fonts have been selected with a queer perspective. Special thanks to Minna Sakaria for letting us use "Avec".
